Competence Framework

The NHS Health Check Competence Framework sets out the core competences and technical competences required to carry out an NHS Health Check.

Whilst the NHS Health Check can be delivered in different settings by different healthcare professionals, all those delivering the check should hold these competences. This document should be used as the template for minimum standards when developing any training packages for people who deliver the check.

Learner and assessor workbooks

The NHS Health Check learner and assessor workbooks are available to accompany the Competence Framework. The workbooks support commissioners and providers of the NHS Health Check to assess and evidence their staff’s competence against the required competences and can be used as a tool to identify any training gaps.

This offers commissioners and providers the reassurance of a consistent approach to following best practice and achieving the minimum standards.
