Salford Physiotherapists win Faculty of Public Health and Public Health England award for contributions to public health

Congratulations to Gillian Rawlinson,  advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy practitioner and Helen Slee, project manager at Salford Royal Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust,  who have won a major UK award for their work in providing NHS Health Checks and diabetes prevention assessments within physiotherapy services that specialise in joint and muscle disorders.

The judges thought their project brilliantly showed how physiotherapists were an untapped resource in promoting healthy living and identifying people at risk. It means that when health promotion becomes a normal part of the work of physiotherapists who are experts in muscle and joint problems, patients had ready access to health checks, pre-diabetes assessments and so on, making every contact count.
